Diving in Cozumel
If you are going to dive in Mexico, you cannot skip Cozumel! The island of Cozumel is situated in the Carribean at about 19 km from the coast. It is the biggest inhabited island of Mexico and measures 56 km in length and 14 km in width. There are about 70.000 inhabitants on the island, most of them are Mayas. The original name of the island is Ah-Cuzamil-Peten; this is Maya for the island of the swallows.
Cozumel was presented to world in 1961 by the famous Jacques Yves Cousteau. Since that date thousands of divers explored the crystal clear warm waters of Cozumel.
The temperature on the island is tropical warm throughout the whole year and approximately between 25oC and 32oC.
The water temperature is between an average of 24C and 29C.
